NEW BSA Medical Form Effective March 1st, the BSA has a new medical form.  Please discontinue use of all previous versions.  The new foms can be found here. If you have a current medical form, you are not required to have another one completed, but for all upcoming physicals, please use the new form.

ANNUAL "AIM FOR THE FUTURE" SPORTING CLAYS TOURNAMENT-The annual "Air for the Future" Sporting Clays Tournament is scheduled for the morning of Saturday, May 31, 2014, at Southwind Sporting Clays and Quail Hunting in Brooks County. Click HERE for the brochure.

READY, SET, RACE - Cub Race Weekend is an opportunity for your pack to camp for the weekend and race their Cubmobiles, Pinewood Derby Cars, Space Derby Rockets, and Raingutta Regata Boats against other packs.  The event is planned for April 25th thru 27th.  Click for the leaders guide

2014 NYLT CLICK HERE, for all the information related to NYLT. Sign up online HERE!  The SGC NYT will be held June 1-June 7.  We must have 30 participants before May 1st to conduct the course.  The requirements are to be 13 by the first day of class. 

ANNUAL PROGRAM SURVEY Each year the South Georgia Council asks for your feedback as we begin the process for the upcoming program year.  We endeavor to offer the programs and events that your Scouts want!  Please take a few minutes and complete this survey so we can "Be Prepared" for the upcoming year.  Your input will result in the program calendars that are presented at the Program Kickoffs later this summer.

BOY SCOUT GOLF TOURNEY Golfers mark your calendar for May 5th for the 2014 Golf Classic at Doublegate Country Club.  For more information and a sign up brochure, please click HERE.

COUNCIL HIGH ADVENTURE OPPORTUNITY- The South GA Council is excited to announce that we will be offering a High Adventure Experience in June 2015 to the Paul R. Christen National High Adventure Base in West Virginia.  This will be a 7 Day/6 Night experience that will encompass all of the elements of the Sumitt!  We will take up to 40 in our first contingent!   For more information and to get your name on the list, email Matt Hart at the Council Service Center.  A $200 deposit will hold your slot and the total price for this trip is cheap compared to some other High Adventure trips at only $1,000.

IOLS/OWL TRAINING- Introduction To Outdoor Leader Skill/Outdoor Leader Skills for Webelos Leaders (IOLS/OWLS) Training is scheduled for May 2nd thru May 4th.  IOLS - Working as patrols, this hands on course provides adult leaders the practical outdoor skills they need to lead Scouts in the out-of-doors. Upon completion, leaders should feel comfortable teaching Scouts the basic skills required to obtain the First Class Rank.  This course is required of all direct contact leaders registered in Boy Scout Troops, in order to be considered "trained."  OWLS - Helps Webelos Leaders enhance the outdoor program for the Webelos Scouts by teaching some basic outdoor skills as well as skills needed to complete many of the Webelos activity badges.  These courses are combined but if you only want the OWLS training you can leave after Saturdays instruction.  To register for this course click http://www.kintera.org/autogen/home/default.asp?ievent=1106867.  For additional information please follow this LINK.

CUB SCOUT DAY CAMP!    Day Camp is a great summer-time activity for your Cub Scouts!  This year, we will travel through time, each day will focus on a different decade with crafts, activities and fun information related to the Decade of the Day.  
Early Bird Registration is $50 per Scout, which includes all program supplies, a patch and a tshirt.   After May 17, registration goes up to $65.  Parents can sign up their sons for Day Camp online now!  
Alapaha District:  June 2-6 – Sallas Mahone Elementary School, Valdosta
Chehaw District:  June 9-13 – Marine Corps Logistics Base, Albany
8 Rivers District:  June 9-13 – Paulk Park, Fitzgerald
Your Scouts are not required to attend the day camp in their district.  If a different location or date works better, no problem.  We just want your Scouts at Day Camp!
Volunteers are needed to help make Day Camp successful for all our Cub Scouts.  If you are interested in volunteering, please let your district executive know!

RANGE OFFICER CERTIFICATION
As required by BSA National Camp Standards, each BB and Archery range must be run by certified range officers for Cub Scout Day Camp.  This training (to be certified for both ranges) is approximately 4 hours in length.   Range Certification will be on Saturday, May 3 at 1:00 pm at Camp Osborn.  If you are interested in attending, please call either the Valdosta or Albany Scout Shop and get your name on the list so we are sure to have enough of any handouts for everyone.
