When Governor Chase S. Osborn was approached by the Chehaw Council with a request for a small cottage and the Blue Springs on his property - known to him as Jasmine Springs - he recognized the greater destiny he had long envisioned for the land. In a remarkable act of generosity, he gave not just a portion, but the entire tract to the Council.
Camp Chase S. Osborn stands as a proud dedication of this 810-acre gift to the Chehaw Council of the Boy Scouts of America - a lasting memorial to a man and his vision. Given in 1943, the land immediately began serving as a Scout camp that very summer, and with its formal dedication in January 1950, it became firmly rooted as a place of purpose, growth, and promise.
May this camp continue to inspire generations of Scouts to grow in character, leadership, and stewardship of the natural world, carrying forward the vision in which it was given. In the words of Governor Osborn, 'God has given us these grandeurs to love - and to take care of, reminding us of our shared responsibility to cherish and protect this enduring gift.'
